Matthew Berk Joins Carl Marks Advisory Group Managing Director to Focus on Business Development in the Northeast

Matthew Berk has been named Managing Director of Carl Marks Advisory Group LLC. In his new role, Berk will be responsible for business development initiatives in the Northeast region. He will focus on expanding the firm's referral base, while maintaining and enhancing existing relationships throughout the region.

Berk brings more than 30 years of financial restructuring and transaction experience with private and public companies across a broad range of industries to Carl Marks. As both a principal and an attorney, he has been involved with numerous Chapter 11 proceedings, out-of-court restructurings, and distressed sale and financing transactions in the United States and internationally.

Before joining Carl Marks, Berk served as Managing Director with Morgan Joseph & Co. Inc., where he specialized in providing transactional and financial restructuring guidance to financially challenged businesses. He also counseled creditor constituencies seeking to successfully maximize their recoveries in distressed situations.

Previously, Berk was a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal Corporate Finance. He also served as Managing Director with the Special Situations Group of Wachovia Securities.
