Robert C. Lau III has been named Managing Director of Carl Marks Advisory Group LLC (CMAG). In his new role, Lau will be responsible for business development throughout the Southeast.

Lau brings more than 25 years of senior lending expertise to Carl Marks. His experience includes sourcing, structuring and underwriting asset-based and leveraged cash flow financings across a broad range of industries.

Before joining the firm, Lau served as senior vice president at CIT Group Inc., where he focused on sourcing and closing financings surrounding various transactions. His work included leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations and bankruptcies. Before CIT, Lau held senior level business development positions with The Bank of New York, Heller Corporate Finance and IBJ Whitehall Financial Group.

Lau graduated from the University of Georgia with a bachelor's degree in economics and received an M.B.A. in corporate finance from Georgia State University. He lives in Atlanta, where he'll be based.
