Edward M. Schottland, FACHE, has joined Carl Marks Healthcare Partners LLC (CMHP), the New York-based operational performance improvement and advisory services firm, as partner. In his new role, Schottland will provide operational improvement services to a variety of healthcare-industry clients.
Schottland brings nearly 40 years of healthcare administration and management experience to CMHP, including quality management, reorganization, consolidation and transition, program development, and construction planning and coordination, among other areas.
Before joining the firm, Schottland served as interim executive vice president and chief operating officer of St. Joseph Health Services of Rhode Island in North Providence. There, he had administrative responsibility for day-to-day operations of Our Lady of Fatima Hospital and Saint Joseph Hospital for Special Services, totaling 245 beds. He also oversaw the system's Living Center, a 60-bed extended care facility.
Before joining Saint Joseph Health Services, Schottland was chief operating officer at Tufts-New England Medical Center in Boston. He also held senior level positions at Premier Inc. in San Diego; Lifespan Inc., Rhode Island Hospital and The Miriam Hospital in Providence, R.I.; NKC Hospitals Inc and Kosair Crippled Children Hospital in Louisville, Ky.; and Mercy Hospital in Rockville Centre, N.Y.
Schottland graduated from The City University of New York's Queens College with a bachelor's degree in mathematics and an M.P.S. degree in hospital and health services administration from Cornell University's Sloan Institute of Hospital Administration, Graduate School of Business and Public Administration. He will be based in Rhode Island.
