Dr. Ronald Fountain
Executive Counsel
For more than 50 years Dr. Ronald Fountain has been a student, a teacher and a practitioner of management. His experiences have been many and are arrayed across a broad landscape of industries and situations.
A commercial banker for 13 years, Ron learned the fundamentals of business success and challenges by interacting with and observing closely his clients and customers. Those experiences prepared him for the next 35+ years as the CFO of two large public companies, a middle market operating company CEO, an investor relations and communications professional, an investment company executive, an investing entrepreneur and as a college professor and most recently a business school Dean.
During his professional life Ron has confronted, studied and overcome a great many business challenges. He has emerged from these experiences as a successful and well informed business professional assisting his employers and guiding his clients in preventing or confronting and overcoming threats while capitalizing on opportunities. His advisory experiences, in addition to turnaround management, include facilitating and designing operating strategies, defending companies under attack from unwanted suitors and working to accomplish mergers or acquisitions where he represented acquirers. He has been a key team member in many operating acquisitions and divestitures and has designed approaches to integrate disparate organizational cultures post acquisition to achieve desired outcomes. Ron is a strong advocate for achieving market level cash flow returns on cash investments through mobilizing committed employees and managers.
After earning his Bachelor of Science degree from Valdosta State University in Georgia, Ron went on to earn his MBA and his Doctor of Management degrees from the Weatherhead School of Management at Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He was voted that school’s Outstanding Alumni in 1995 and has taught there for many years as an adjunct professor in the Finance Department. Ron has published articles and speaks frequently on effective leadership, finance and organizational effectiveness. He has served on several private sector and not-for-profit boards and is listed in Who's Who in Finance and Industry, Who's Who in the Midwest and Who's Who in America. He currently is the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of The MetroHealth System in Cleveland, Ohio.
